ABSTRACT

Between 2008 and 2016 at least 60,000 tourists have taken the official Millennium Walking Tour arranged by the Stockholm City Museum. In addition to this, 15,000 Millennium maps have been sold, and a couple of thousand more have been given away to city guests (for example, in welcome packages to delegations to the city). An estimated 70,000–90,000 visitors have taken the official Millennium tour, following the footsteps of Lisbeth Salander and Michael Blomkvist, either with a guide or with the Millennium map (this estimation is based on two people typically sharing a map). For the city of Stockholm, the tour and the map have reached a combined turnover of more than one million euros. 1
