ABSTRACT

Forming a unique indigenous group that have subsisted in the Mesopotamian region from ancient times, the Mandaeans are the last surviving Gnostics. Strict pacifists, wearing distinctive white garments, avoiding cutting their hair, and rejecting male circumcision (Nasoraia 2017a), they have somehow managed to survive persecutions and keep up their rich tradition near the confluence of the Euphrates, Tigris, and Karun rivers, and now in diaspora (mostly in Western countries) (Nasoraia 2017b).
