ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses cross-sectional census microdata for the UK with a focus on the data which have been produced for the 2011 Census. We describe what the data look like, how they were created whilst ensuring confidentiality for respondents, how they may be accessed and some of the uses to which they have been put. We finally look to the future for microdata at a time of change in census taking.
