ABSTRACT
We are a group of Year 11 girls (age 16). In the autumn of 2015 three of us were invited to take part in a research project about where we felt safe and unsafe growing up and living in our Welsh valleys town Llanmerin (fictional name). 1 This project was not only about listening to our views (Phase 1), 2 it also included the opportunity to do something about the things that mattered to us (Phase 2) and enabled us to share our story with others through the visual arts (Phase 3).
