ABSTRACT
Since the end of the Cold War and the demise of the aĴendant bipolar power structure, the international political system has undergone dramatic changes. The United States has emerged as the preponderant political, military and economic power and it has used its victory over the Soviet Union to fashion an international system to support American national aspirations, in effect creating a unipolar, or unbalanced multipolar, power structure.
