ABSTRACT

In contrast with the extant research on organisational culture change that focuses on Western organisational contexts, this study presents fundamental understanding and actionable knowledge to effectively change culture within an African organisational context. Using a Nigerian oil and gas firm as a case study, the chapter presents organisational culture change initiatives and their implications for culture change efforts. The findings provide interesting insights on opportune moments to change organisational culture, the effects of employment relations on culture change efforts, and the significance of incorporating local cultural values and expectations of key stakeholders in culture change initiatives.
