ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how to manage change in order to achieve sustainable economic growth in transition economies. Specifically, it makes a theoretical contribution by providing evidence for a new ‘Framework for transformational change in Africa: Radical participative management for sustainable economic growth in Kenya.’ The five dimensions of the framework are critically discussed and related to examples from the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, which is seen as central to sustaining growth. The chapter also highlights the role of universities (Strathmore University Business School, Kenya, and Aston Business School, UK) in building MSME capacity for change.
