ABSTRACT

Protecting the quality of our environment and promoting global sustainability are among the main planning tasks for the 21st century. Environmental planning is the process of developing and implementing policies that aims for communities to contribute to these tasks. While initially largely dependent on central government initiatives and regularity based instruments, environmental planning is increasingly becoming a diverse and proactive planning activity. Its growing diversity has also influenced environmental planning education, which is discussed in this chapter.
