ABSTRACT

Historically the location of firms is to be considered a very important phenomenon to investigate. As time goes by and business becomes more competitive, large firms and successful firms tend to make the choice of locations a strategic issue and place an enormous amount of importance on this. The choice of location nowadays is as important as selecting destinations of target markets. The link between international performance and location is described within three main theoretical streams in modern business and management research. These are the structure-conduct-performance paradigm, the relational paradigm and the resource-based view of the firm.
