ABSTRACT
Economic Geography is a discipline concerned with examining the places and spaces in which economic activities are carried out and circulate. Originating in nineteenth-century Europe, Economic Geography is now a large international field of inquiry found in many countries, with a varied and dense research programme. Especially over the last sixty years, Economic Geography has become a lively, variegated and core sub-discipline within human geography. Moreover, economic geographers have also made a series of important substantive contributions to such topics as industrial districts, spatial labour markets, innovation milieus, global production networks and commodity chains that have received attention beyond the discipline.
