ABSTRACT

The social and economic development of communities and the positive development of children and youth are two of the most important issues facing our societies today. The implications for human development, national securities, and socioeconomic advancement are vast. Communities that are engaged and empowered are strong and resilient. Children and youth that are empowered and, through civic engagement, become active citizens, are infinitely better off for being real parts of the process of community building. Bringing together these two entities poses immense opportunities for guaranteeing child, youth, and community well-being.
