ABSTRACT
This entry is dedicated to the issue of equivalence amongst languages as investigated by various (Western) philosophers. The main questions discussed here are how Philosophy of Language (PL) has approached equivalence from antiquity until today and whether we can draw insight from these reflections to enrich Translation Studies (TS).
