ABSTRACT
This chapter presents an overview of ways that the profession of social work in the Republic of Korea 1 engages with spirituality in its diverse religious and philosophical forms. This includes three sections: explanation of key concepts and Korean context; main religions and spiritually oriented philosophies that shape social welfare (i.e. traditionally rooted Buddhism, Confucianism, shamanism and recently introduced Christianity); and a concluding summary with suggestions for innovation.
