Criminology and human rights: an introduction

Human rights frameworks and terminology have been employed in criminological scholarship for some time, and yet there is little explicit recognition of what Stanley (2007) has referred to as a ‘criminology for human rights’. The Routledge international handbook of criminology and human rights aims at addressing this gap in the criminological scholarship; its timely publication will enable criminologists to engage more explicitly with human rights in their research areas.
