Accountability in the Economic and Monetary Union

I think that the rules of democratic process are often made mockery of by the way that the markets work. The timing for taking decisions in a democracy is completely different from the timing of taking decisions in financial markets, and unfortunately, and I say this with a deep regret, often democracy is victim to the way the market works.
