Many researchers, practitioners, and policy makers seek silos. For instance, perhaps they research climate change adaptation (CCA). They frame their problem and collect their data according to CCA paradigms. They use only CCA theories and cite only publications covering CCA. They publish in a journal focusing principally on CCA with the readership being primarily those who do only CCA. If material, interests, thoughts, or items do not involve CCA, then they will not be relevant.
