ABSTRACT

This chapter articulates various options for conducting qualitatively research on innovation as process. Although this quest seems straightforward, it is far from the case. Several questions must first be addressed including: What is innovation? What is process? And, what exactly is qualitative? It seems there are more questions than we can productively address in this short piece. Notwithstanding this challenge, even an overview of key issues can generate an informed opinion on qualitative approaches to the study of innovation as process. Consequently, we briefly explore each term to explicate how we use them.
