Abstract

Published in 2011 as a crime sequel to Pride and Prejudice, Death Comes to Pemberley was adapted for BBC One and first aired on Christmas Day, 2013. It subsequently aired on PBS in the United States in November 2014 and has had several re-runs on the British-based free to view Drama channel. P.D. James, one of the most successful and revered British crime writers of the twentieth century, produced a worthy homage to her favourite writer (James 1999: 227), published in time to celebrate the two-hundred-year anniversary of Pride and Prejudice in 2013.
