ABSTRACT

IR scholarship, along with the social sciences and humanities, has experienced a ‘relational revolution’ resulting in a proliferation of relational theories and worldviews. But what are ‘relations’ and how do we contend with the proliferation of different forms of relational thinking? This chapter explores relational thinking in IR and critical theory via ‘relational cosmology’. Relational cosmology helps us to understand why a relational revolution is underway but also how we might better relate to relationality (in its divergent forms).
