ABSTRACT
Understanding educational leadership research across Asia presents a significant challenge due to the continent’s wide-ranging diversity. Asia includes diverse linguistic and socio-cultural groups, some of the poorest and wealthiest economies in the world, highly concentrated urban centres to sparsely populated or remote villages, and political systems that include liberal democracies, communist republics and monarchies. Arguably, these diverse factors impact on education systems (Kennedy & Lee, 2008) and, hence, the role of educational leaders within the respective systems.
