ABSTRACT
Euro-Mediterranean transnational advocacy networks (TANs) for human rights have proliferated in the Euro-Mediterranean area over the last two decades. Stable links and exchanges between very diverse human rights advocacy groups from different countries have multiplied, and transnational constituencies have been forged despite the structural factors that hamper this development. The objectives of the chapter are to analyse the evolution of these networks, and of forums designed as spaces for creating and promoting advocacy networks. To do that, the chapter explains the different initiatives (whether linked or not with Euro-Mediterranean Partnership), and the new dynamics created after the Arab Spring. Finally, the main challenges faced by these networks are evaluated and a brief assessment of the Euro-Mediterranean TANs is done by way of conclusion.
