ABSTRACT

The conflict involving the Bangsamoro peoples in Mindanao is one of the most serious and deadly insurgencies/conflicts in the history of the Philippines. Few people are familiar of the third-party mediation processes that take place in order to resolve this conflict. As such, this chapter focuses on mediation processes involving first the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and then the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). It stresses the importance of the culturally appropriate design of the mediation process including the composition of mediating parties.
