Over the course of the current economic crisis, Spain has been the focus of much worldwide concern. The crisis is particularly acute in that country, some of the worst fallout being extremely high unemployment rates, reaching 25% in 2014. As the thirteenth-largest economy in the world and the fifth largest in Europe, Spain’s turbulence has seriously affected the rest of the globe. In 2011, however, the country caught the eye of the world in a different, more positive way.
