ABSTRACT
Living in Sydney comes with many perks. You can catch a ferry to work and pass the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge each morning. You can enjoy a swim in the ocean after the day’s work is done. And on the weekends, you can stroll along Sydney’s dramatic cliff tops, relax at the beach, or invite your friends over for a barbeque. Sydney indisputably is very out-of-doors oriented, no doubt fostered by an average of 221 rain-free days per year. 1 When rain hits Sydney, however, it often does so with force, and it pays to be prepared. Thus, a typical daily challenge facing Sydney-siders is to decide whether or not to take an umbrella when leaving the house.
