Health inequalities and the role of the physical and social environment

In 2008, Closing the Gap in a Generation (Commission on the Social Determinants of Health) reported on global health inequalities and priorities for action. Two years later this analysis was followed by reviews for England – ‘The Marmot Review’ (The Marmot Review Team 2010) – and in 2013, for the World Health Organization (WHO) European region (The Institute of Health Equity 2013).
