ABSTRACT

There are obvious learning economies to an organization of science where fields are relatively narrow and self-contained and identities are strong. However, there is also the danger that important opportunities for cross-fertilization between fields are, highly apropos, not imagined and realized. I have never considered myself an entrepreneurship scholar per se. My identity has rather been lying within the field of economics and, within management research, within the strategy and organization fields. In fact, my interest in entrepreneurship has mainly involved exploring relations between entrepreneurship and neighboring and related fields, such as the theory of the firm and the economics of institutions, and has derived from a long-standing interest in Austrian economics.
