ABSTRACT

All human activities are dependent on natural resources like forest, land, oceans, rivers, clean air and water and the ecosystem overall. These resources are not utilized sustainably by human beings. The environmental processes provide inputs to the production of goods and services in terms of raw material and also act as sinks for waste and emissions. Environmental resources also have values beyond direct use for various purposes. For example, some resources have value due to cultural or scientific reasons and, sometimes, religious values. Thus, we have to manage all the natural resources and the environment for long-term sustainability for its survival and best use over time.
