ABSTRACT
Chimpoto is an undocumented language spoken in southwestern Tanzania along the shore of Lake Nyasa. This sketch provides a general overview of the sound system, the noun class system and agreement, verb derivation and morphology (including tense, aspect and mood), word order at the phrasal and clausal levels, clause types and topicalisation, which is a prominent feature in the language.
