ABSTRACT
The Qin dynasty was the first imperial dynasty to rule China. In 221 bce, under the leadership of the First Emperor of China, they united the formerly separate polities of the Warring States into an empire. The Qin laid the foundations for the more than thousand years of rule by emperors in China. This chapter relates, in an outline fashion, the story of the Qin dynasty’s rise and fall.
