ABSTRACT

In this section I want to outline some of the more traditional social justice concerns associated with income support and then consider some emerging conceptions that are becoming increasingly relevant to the development of income support policies in Western countries, particularly active labour market policies targeting the unemployed, sole parents and people with disabilities. There are four dimensions of social justice I want to outline: redistribution, recognition, representation and temporal justice.
