Abstract

From the south of Chile to the north of Mexico, more than 20 countries and territories comprise Latin America, a mix of new republics, with neo-Latin languages, that were colonized by European powers, mainly Spain and Portugal. In the nineteenth century, Simón Bolívar had unsuccessfully attempted its political unification but, despite his failure, this portion of the American continent can be unified culturally and artistically in multiple ways – even if certain national differences remain noticeable.
