ABSTRACT
China and India are leading emerging economies and important drivers of international development. This chapter examines and assesses relations between China and India within the BRICS. The chapter addresses three questions: what led these two countries to join in the BRICS project? What kind of relationship have they had within BRICS? What have been the achievements and challenges of the BRICS? The study adopts a human security perspective and argues that the China–India relationship has shown remarkable durability within BRICS despite bilateral tensions and will remain a critical factor for the BRICS future.
