Regenerative medicine has emerged as an essential field of study for developing better medical facilities for the mankind. This can be attributed to the fact that it holds great promise for the treatment of many conditions such as liver failure and spinal cord injury that may not be cured with the currently available drugs or therapeutics. Biomaterials play an important role in the implementation of the regenerative medicine strategies. Among the biomaterials, natural polymers have been highly explored for the development of tissue constructs for regenerative medicine applications because of their suitable biological properties and similarities with the natural extracellular matrix. The current report reviews the types of natural polymers, their architectures, and processing technologies along with the recent applications in various regenerative medicine strategies. Finally, the current challenges and the future trends in the field of regenerative medicine have been discussed.
