Polymers are found to be an ideal candidate in the areas of energy storage and conversion. These offer interesting properties, such as an easier processing, wide range of conductivities, facile production, mechanical stability, lighter weight, and low cost which make them suitable for the applications in areas such as lithium batteries, super capacitors, fuel cells, photovoltaics, and solar cells. In this regard, conjugated porous polymers with specific structure allow the polymer properties to be more finely tuned for advances and new applications. This entry is to briefly discuss the background and theory of various applications as well as to highlight the recent contributions of conducting polymers to the field of energy.
