Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is one of the most studied and mainly applied thermosensitive polymers in recent decades, which is attractive and valuable because of its quick response to changes in environmental temperature. PNIPAAm often shows an inverse solubility or wettability across lower critical solution temperature. It can also be easily functionalized to gradually develop and expand its uses. The versatility of PNIPAAm and its derivatives has made them excellent for the applications in drug delivery, cell culture, tissue engineering, biosensors, etc. This review covers the definition, classification, properties, product types, shelf life, testing, and applications for separation.
