ABSTRACT

Well into the Colonial period, a scribal priest from Tizimin, Yucatán, transcribed a history of Yucatán that reached back to the founding of Chich’en Itzá over 500 years previous.

9 Ahau was the second katun … And there was the beginning and rise of Christianity … And there was the beginning and the construction of the god house … Piling on work was the burden of the katun. And there was the beginning of the noose. And started was the fever of the nose and limbs … Affecting children and younger brothers with the harsh lash, with the harsh tribute.
