ABSTRACT

Change can be difficult and painful, but change is necessary; the adaptable organization is the successful one. Arts leaders must be able to manage resistance and shepherd stakeholders through often complex transition processes, which can then lead to meaningful change. This chapter will explore the change concept of cognitive restructuring, and then use that lens through which to view the first year of employment of the new Executive Producer of the Utah Shakespeare Festival and the new Director Curator of the Southern Utah Museum of Art.
