This chapter explores from a legal angle a number of trends that are relevant in designing and implementing contracting structures successfully supporting digital outsourcing transactions. First, we focus specifically on the relevance of provisions supporting proper communication between the parties. Second, we describe the consequences of the proliferation of parties involved in the contracting structure and explore a number of options for a mutlilateral approach. Finally, we explore the impact of growing compliance pressure on outsourcing contracts and take the recent European data protection legislation (GDPR) as a case study.
