ABSTRACT

In this chapter I seek not only to deepen the debate surrounding intercultural policies, offering a theoretical framework centred on governance, but also to offer points of reflection at the city level, where most of the studies on interculturalism are deployed. In concrete terms, I propose an Intercultural Governance Index (IGI), which can allow us to infer an ideal type, in addition to highlighting significant variables and hypotheses. This exploratory study has been carried out in nine cities of the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI). In accordance with a participative methodology, the cities have also contributed to the identification of minimum standards of intercultural governance.
