ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to highlight the sometimes-ignored politics that sits behind ‘DIY urbanism’ and other, similar user-led movements that have emerged to influence the management and design of public spaces. The chapter draws together diverse literature to connect these trends to broader theory and research in urban geography and planning.
