ABSTRACT
Imagination is the ally of both lying and truth-telling. It is double-edged; it has its uses and abuses, its privileges and penalties. On the one hand, it is one of our most powerful tools for knowing reality, and on the other it reverts to its original idolatrous form of image-making which is inevitably destructive of truth.
